- Drop at any 7-Eleven (Kerry/Flash counters) or branch; pickups via app are easy
- No signature culture like the West — parcels land in postboxes or with guards/juristic offices; condo juristic offices accept packages for residents
International inbound: the customs part
- Duty-free threshold: imported goods valued ≤ ~1,500 THB per shipment generally skip duty/VAT — this made cross-border shopping cheap, though rules tighten periodically
- Above that: import duty varies by category (often 5–30%) + VAT 7% on value+duty+shipping
- Courier (DHL/FedEx/UPS) clears customs for you but adds brokerage fees; postal items go through Thailand Post customs with a notice-to-pay slip
- Prohibited/restricted: vapes (illegal outright), certain meds (check FDA list before ordering supplements), drones need registration, radios/transceivers restricted
Receiving mail as an expat without drama
- Condo residents: register your name+unit with the juristic office — they sign for packages
- Use your building address exactly as written on your TM.30/lease for consistency
- For important documents (banks, immigration): EMS with tracking, never regular untracked post
- Virtual mailbox services exist for nomads hopping cities
Outbound international
Thailand Post air small packets remain cheapest for non-urgent items. Anything valuable: courier with tracking + insurance. Food/plants/herbal items face destination-country restrictions — check before promising delivery.
